Let's see:
* An old drag queen promises to give me one of his saris, as he think I would like it. Plus - it's TOO feminine for him.
* A guy comes in - 3 or 4 times - walks around in circles talking to himself, then he finally asks about summer employment for students. I'm thinking - what can you do? Pretend to be a chicken?
* There are three toilets in the women's restroom on the cafeteria level: One is stuffed to the gills with toilet seat covers; the second has unflushed diarrhea; the third has thick copious blood streaks on it. Nice.
At a previous job a long, long, long time ago, when we were short staffed I would occasionally have to clean the restrooms. I'm not too proud to mop a floor or brush a toilet - a job is a job.
However, contrary to popular myth, I found the women's restrooms to consistently be significantly messier than the men's restrooms - very much in the conditions you're describing here.
No thanks. I try to keep my hands off of everything.
I do yoga just to learn how to manipulate the stall-door lock with my foot, while still in a shoe...

As I don't have anymore savings to speak of, and haven't been working for almost a month, I broke down and went to the county social services office today to see if I could get an EBT card. I had an appointment to see a counselor today, since I had applied last week...anyway, I met a very nice woman who went throught the process with me. She was a petite well-dressed Filipina in her early 40's (She later told me that she was 42). We had an interesting chat, which ranged from wierdo guys trying to pick up on us to this:
Me: I'm kind of embarrassed to come here, even though I also see this as temporary help.
Mrs. R: Oh - don't be embarrassed. A lot of people are having a hard time now. It's just sad to see the ones who are always on public assistance, who never work a day in their lives.
Me: True...still...
Mrs. R: At least you work and want to work. Do you think that you'll get another work contract?
Me: I hope so. At least I don't have kids to worry about.
Mrs. R: If you had kids, you'd be eligible to get more aid.
Me: I know. Well...I also like living alone *laughs*
Mrs R: I know what you mean. I miss that. You are lucky. I live with my husband, two kids, and the mother-in-law from Hell.
Me: Oh? um - sorry to hear that.
Mrs R: Yes. She is a pain in the butt. She complains about everything. She has everything and is never satisfied.

Mrs R: Yeah...she just returned from a trip to Tahoe this past weekend, and as soon as she came through the door, she complained on how one of the blinds was open.

Mrs R: I was in the kitchen making dinner. While I was chopping veggies, all I could think about was shoving that knife in her chest.
Me: *stops laughing*
Well...I was awarded food stamps for two months! I'll make it last for four too.
Later - I got a call from my boss - back to work tomorrow! Yipee!

Im sorry you had to go through that. NEVER be embarassed for that kind of temporary help btw. If you need it, that's what it's there for...plus, like she said...you wanna work! You have ambition and motivation. I remember when I had to get the same kinda help after my father died back in '99. It SUCKED!

While running around like a chicken without a head yesterday, I ran into a cousin I haven't seen in years. Nevermind that she also lives in the Bay Area (Well, she's been going back and forth between here and Oklahoma).
I was rushing through a bus stop hub at a BART station when I heard someone shout "Monique!"
I stopped in my tracks to see Estella. I recognized her face, but she was heavier, and her hair was totally off. It was cut chin length and dyed a light reddish brown. I'm use to and prefer Native Americans with black hair, but hey - who am I to tell someone what to do with their hair?
Anyway, we hugged the breath out of each other, and chatted for awhile. She was living in the town next to mine, with a 61-year old boyfriend...whatever makes her happy, right?
She seemed so mellow and relaxed. I recall how she used to be when we were all young, bright-eyed, and bushytailed: Loud, vain, and a total fashionista. Now, she was quite plain...and she seemed happy...and that is what counts.
lol 61 isn't old...is it? So you going to meet up with her, or was it just one of those meetings..I always think there is a reason for a chance meeting.

It's after 1pm PST, and I just had pancakes. Yeah - I rolled out of bed around noon, and I still kinda' feel like shit.
All I had was one small glass - a shot glass, really - of some absinthe last night, and I still feel kinda' wierd. My head is kinda' wobbly on my neck. I know that I can't drink for shit, but damn...
I blame Moonie, Diety, and Abstract for my demise. They were having so much drunken fun on the cams last night that I decided to join in as well...with the drinking part, that is. (I don't have a cam).
The neon green haze is seared into my eyeballs. The pretty little green fairy turned out to be a short squat ugly-assed leprechuan. And why does that Uverse box behind my TV in the bedroom emit such an annoying light? It was - and is - like I have the Tommy Knockers staking a claim in my apartment.
Lol...that stuff will really screw you up. Especially American Absinthe. The stuff you perchase out of the states is amazing though. It truly is a treat. :P
As I could no longer use Playlist the way I wanted to, I created a new list using MixPod, which is so much better! Not only did it have all but 2 songs I had previosuly, but more - that I always wanted! And - one can have the option to watch the videos as well. And my autoplay is back on - yah!
There are still a few problems though. I added four songs after creating my initial list, but only the first two are showing up...I have no idea where the last two songs are, even though they show up on the list...???

Day 983 of my captivity...
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.
Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches .The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell so he is safe.
LOL Isis! I felt the same way. I had to go back a few times to read it so now I can flip between your journal and Cancer's to read it haha Just kidding.
I recently noticed that the music doesn't start automatically on Playlist anymore. I enquired about it, and got this response:

Now the obvious thing for someone to do when being 'hit with unsolicited music' is to turn it off...duh! And - shouldn't people be able to set up their pages how they want? With or without music? The freedom to use autostart?
Just noticed that myself. I have to say though, I do kinda agree with wanting the option of turning it on myself with the only reason being that sometimes it can be hell figuring out where the hell the player IS on a page. If it was at least somehow located in the same place no matter what page you were on, that would've helped.
Lol yeah I have found this as well..I want my music to play as soon as they go on my profile.

Well, I'm glad that my labs are completed...which is just in time, as I've been in a lot of pain for the last two days...my stomach is acting up so much that it is bringing tears to my eyes. One day, constipated, the next day the runs. And the pain continues. What few drugs I have aren't wotking, or they'll take a few days to kick in. I'm afraid to eat.
And - I need to work. No call back regarding that thirty-day extension either. I hate this - I really do.
This is actually something that has been going on for almost two years now. With no medical coverage, I can't take care of the problem. Hell - I'm still waiting for results from an ultrasound I took back in February, through a county clinic.
Sorry you are having tummy problems. I would go to the local health food store and try a couple of things there. When I worked at one people had a lot of luck with the stuff we sold.
If you knew that I'd want to continue working after my contract was over, shouldn't you have put in the request weeks ago instead of now? Especially as you stated that you wanted to keep me?
I just finished a 184-day contract of working as a cashier at a local community college. They want me back for another 184 days, but there is a gap of 30 days before the next contract begins. I want to work those 30 days too, but can't until the boss gets the okay.
Most employees of school district start off as contract workers before becoming permanent. It's not the law though...it's just the way things are right now, with the economy.
If your boss was in your position he would have done it ages ago...Typical boss..Bah!

Well...my 184-day contract has ended. The boss is putting in a request for a thirty-day extension for me, to tie me over to the next fiscal year, wich is coming up in July. Then I'm suppose to get another 184 days.
Even though I can spend this time at home to do school work, I need to be working!
